Indulgent, irresistible desserts sauced, glazed, and frosted along with chocolate coated sugary confections seem to go hand in hand with the holidays. After the holidays have passed, we tend to tuck those special recipes away along with sentimental memories of the delightful celebrations we shared.

While the holidays are behind us, we still enjoy getting together with friends and family for good times. Invite a small crowd in for an informal get-together and start them nibbling with an appetizer that won't add inches to the waistline. This starter offers punchy flavor with only four ingredients. Your kitchen elf, the trusty food processor, does the work while you enjoy some thumbs-up compliments.

ARTICHOKE CAPER SPREAD

1 13.5-oz. (382 g) can of water-packed artichoke hearts, drained, liquid reserved
1/4 C. (60 ml) drained capers
1 clove garlic
3 T. reserved artichoke liquid

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and process until smooth and creamy, about 1 to 2 minutes. Serves 5 or 6.

NOTE:
This easy appetizer keeps so well in the refrigerator that you can make it the day before without fear of it losing flavor.
